About Nestunet

Historic and idyllic surroundings

Nestunet is located on the land of the farm Nes near Mundheim in Hardanger. Here, regular farming is carried out with agriculture and forestry, alongside the rental business. Anne Karin and Kåre are the 11th generation in their families running the farm and live there themselves.

Originally there were 18 houses on the yard, but due to the changes in agriculture before the First World War, many of the buildings became redundant. 4 of the original houses were moved to the Norwegian Folk Museum on Bygdøy in Oslo, and today make up what is called Vestlandstunet there.

The yard is open all year round, but in May/June it can be particularly beautiful with fruit blossoms and other colorful vegetation. In autumn, you have the beautiful colors and the clear air over the fjord, mountains and the glacier, which give a very special nature experience. When (in autumn) the fruit has been harvested and brought in, the region has even more to offer, including fruit and ciders from Hardanger.

Nestunet has been awarded the Norwegian Cultural Heritage's quality label "Olavsrosa". The brand shows the way to a unique product rooted in Norwegian cultural heritage. The quality label is awarded after a strict assessment that places emphasis on the product's cultural-historical value, how this has been taken care of, and how the product has been made available to the public. The fact that Olavrosestaden Nestunet is located by the Hardangerfjord gives this an extra dimension.
